Thailand’s Apichatpong Weerasethakul on Sunday took the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival with a surreal and hypnotic meditation on reincarnation set in the jungle.

Spanish actor Javier Bardem and Italy’s Elio Germano shared the best actor award and France’s Juliette Binoche won the best actress prize for her role as an unhappy art dealer in Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami’s film Certified Copy.

The Apichatpong’s Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives sees a lost son return as a monkey ghost, a disfigured princess have sex with a catfish and a dead wife return to guide her husband into the afterlife. Canadian filmmaker Ron Mann’s distribution company, filmswelike, will reap some of the glory of the win as it is the film’s distributor.

Apichatpong, 39, said after receiving the award from festival jury president Tim Burton that he wanted to thank “the spirits in Thailand that surrounded us” while making the film.

The most significant Canadian win came from director Xavier Dolan, 21, who won the Regards Jeunes prize on Saturday afternoon for Heartbeats. The film screened in the Un Certain Regard sidebar of this year’s Official Selection.

It is the second year in a row that Dolan has won the same prize. At last year’s festival, he took the Regards Jeunes, along with two other prizes for his Directors’ Fortnight entry, J’ai Tué Ma Mère (I Killed My Mother). The prize is selected by a jury of seven young cinephiles for a director’s first or second film.

In other prizes that were handed out before Sunday night’s ceremony, Korean director Hang Song-soo’s film, Ha Ha Ha, took the Un Certain Regard Prize.

The jury, led by Belgian director Claire Denis, also gave jury prizes to Peruvian brother directors, Daniel and Diego Vega, for October, a drama about a loan shark who finds himself caring for an infant. In addition, the jury gave a performance prize to three actresses: Adela Sanchez, Eva Bianco and Victoria Raposo, who starrred in from Ivan Fund and Santiago Loza’s Los Labios (Lips) about women welfare workers in Argentina.

Director Mathieu Amalric’s On Tour, starring Amalric as a French manager of an American burlesque troupe, took the FIPRESCI prize, awarded by the International Federation of the Cinematographic Press.

The Ecumenical Prize for promoting religious understanding went to French director Xavier Beauvois’s Of Gods and Men, the true-life story of a group of Catholic monks working in a mountain village in Algiers the mid-nineties, who were confronted by Islamist militants.

family law of American still cover woman and kid right for long time...but until now...cover it is big issues for discuss in APEC Asia pacific conference...but the government ...most of this world still be ignorance...

sometime i think that kid have no right to got their pleasure in habitat that they feel best...why they have no right to choose??/because of after choose the best...family law cannot guarantee that who must pay for their warm home and education accommodation full their life until they get mature....yes or no????and no family law or social welfare that can cover and support the best for the children...they must struggle...after have only one parent support...some are custody in family that they need not to live with...but the love that have no money for good support until mature is big obstacle in undeveloped countries...

some born in poverty family...they try to feel that it is warm family in that parent must live together in full sqarrel and depress into their kids...pretend to act to social that life is perfect...but only tolerate in all unacceptable about divorce family law.some kids growth and hate about poverty...they will not born to be work for government...they cannot accept low salary in full corruption for survive again...left only their parents into that life until retired with full honor that thier kids...next generation will not poor like parent in government zone...somewhere of this world...fund market under foreign invest are the points of these heretage of these parent???..that become the kid that have bad behavior to social...they are poverty uncontrol product...never got nice chances from bad warming look like ...family...and when they grow up...they ask for all chances from everyone...because of born to be poor...and the rich try to help ...to teach...to support..to give chance...

in public company ...full of competitions...the owners always be difference nation belong from heritable variety..owners never care about how the poverty come from...if they can get more benefit for company..they can stay...but if no contract for produce benefit...every company can offer more income and accommodation for them...

private economic full of great talent persons...difference from low income of government zone ...full of corruption persons..no one need to be evaluation or inspector zone if no benefit or incomes enough to lower benefit of the guilt...or accused...in somewhere of this world...look like..

This Is It was a planned series of fifty concerts by Michael Jackson to be held at The O2 arena in London. They were scheduled to begin in July 2009 and continue through March 2010. Less than three weeks before the first concert date, and with all concerts sold out, Jackson died after suffering cardiac arrest. During CES 2010, Sony had a special glass booth that showed off Michael Jackson’s Thriller Costume (designed by Zaldy) for the “This Is It” Tour. Michael Jackson Public Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009, 1:00 PM EST/10:00 AM PST at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Tickets were distributed via a lottery system organized by AEG. "It was our wish to allow as many of Michael's fans to be a part of the memorial, and we wish to thank everyone for their support and understanding at this difficult time," the Jackson family said in a statement. Live coverage of the Michael Jackson public memorial service will begin on Tuesday at 12 PM EST / 9 AM PST on many major media outlets.

The Jackson family today announced the participants for the Michael Jackson memorial at the Staples Center:

Ron Boyd (family friend); Kobe Bryant; Mariah Carey; Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Jennifer Hudson; Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain's Got Talent); Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Lionel Richie; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend); Usher; and Stevie Wonder.

This list is preliminary and subject to change. There will be no further information regarding the program.

(CNN) -- Legal, medical and financial troubles kept pop superstar Michael Jackson in the news even as his record sales dropped.

Jackson died Thursday at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, after collapsing at his home from cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old.

Boyle was upset by winner Diversity, a 10-person dance group from Essex and East London, England, ranging in age from 12 to 25 years old. The group won 100,000 British pounds ($161,000) and will perform for Queen Elizabeth II in the Royal Variety Show.

"The best people won," Boyle said.

The dancers appeared shocked Saturday when it was announced that they had won.

The group was formed in 2007, and in the same year won the United Kingdom Dance Championships.
